My work utilises various media in response to an ongoing interaction with the rural Yorkshire landscape and the history and buildings of its industrial heritage. More specifically, my inspiration comes from observing processes of decay and weathering, valuing the impermanent nature of things, the state of gentle flux and shifting perspectives that I find on my many walks in the local environment.
In exploring these processes of change, my work seeks to examine what endures and what is lost, asking what has solidity and what is transient? In engaging in this personal dialogue, I hope to further my understanding of loss and renewal at a personal and societal level. My work is both a lament and the honouring of human adaptability and resilience.
